I unbiased received my unusual season three plot. I couldn’t own what they did to this position. In position of the nice box state, they sent a snap case that is usually broken-down for honest one movie. All three discs are setting “ON TOP” of each other. Their is absolutely no partition. This is going to be extremely easy to scratch the discs. Now it would have been nice if they had sent these in slim-line cases, but these are ‘piled’ on top of each other. Cheap all the scheme! I also discovered that these discs do not play in my computer, (like every status I’ve ever purchased does) . This area is going befriend tomorrow. Sony really did a number on their customers.

I am a fan of The Shield and I am guessing that you are at least familiar with it or you wouldn’t be looking at the box state. Since you are here to choose to lift the box situation or not, I want to warn you that they have created something that looks like a record book which has the discs squeezed between the pages. The spot is that every time you rob a disc out or save it in, the disc is scraping across the surface of the cardboard pages in which it is sandwiched. The book is nice looking so I did give it 3 stars for that reason and of course the series itself is as the other reviewers have mentioned well worth your time if you like the cop genre. If this is the only DVD series you beget, it would see nice on your coffee table, but if you have a DVD case it is awkward because of the shape and size of the box. I swear they gain these cardboard box situation holders to achieve money or to accumulate you to steal the series in the boxes that you find with individual seasons. I had the same pickle with the complete series of the Wire. I will probably have to bewitch the DVD’s out of the box dwelling sleeves and place them in passe plastic DVD cases to protect the DVD’s which is an additional expense to deem if you are buying this situation to keep money. It would be nice if the manufacturers offered alternative (aged) packaging as an option without forcing you to steal the series one season at at time for double the impress of the box region.

The Shield is one of those shows that rips you in on the first episode and keeps you coming attend again and again. I can’t contemplate TV on Tuesday nights in the Drop without thinking about The Shield. If you’re a fan of shadowy and gritty shows this is the cat’s meow. From the very first episode, you are forced to approach to odds with Detective Vic Mackey (Michael Chiklis) the surprisingly likeable anti-hero of the prove. Residence in the fictional Barn district of LA, it is based around a substandard gang-task force unit called the Strike Team.

Season One: The first episode is a gut shot. You exhaust the rest of the season trying to figure out how to like an anti-hero so shaded you can’t even start to rationalize his rotten actions. The deeply disturbing relationship between Captain Aceveda (Benito Martinez) and Mackey’s Strike Team forms. Best season of the exhibit, the explain and Chiklis definitely earned their Golden Globes. 10/10

Season Two: The second season introduces a wider scope of abominable guys for the Strike Team to deal with. It really builds on the anticillary characters and solidifies Mackey’s survival instinct and Shane Vendrell’s (Walton Goggins) bone-headed nature. The actions of the team in this season cast shockwaves that will last through out the course of the series. 9/10

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Shield: Complete Series! Click Here

Season Three: A slower season that deals with the conscience of the Strike Team in the aftermath of a major heist. The once tight family disengrates as the members struggle internally with how to handle their actions. Elsewhere in the Barn, Detective Claudette Wyms (CCH Pounder) begins to perform a tustle for reform while Detective “Dutch” Wagenbach (Jay Karnes) takes a disturbing turn into darkness. 8/10

Season Four: With the Strike Team seperated things choose entertaining paths. Strike Team members Lem, Mackey, and Gardocki try to hold things dapper, while Vendrell and his original partner continue the customary ways. Vendrell doesn’t have the instincts and smarts of Mackey and soon winds up over his head in the exercise of drug dealer Antwon Mitchell (Anthony Anderson) . Glenn Cessation joins the cast as Captain Monica Rawling. A speedily paced season that leaves you questioning fair who to trust. 9/10

Season Five: In one of the most great seasons, IA agent Jon Kavanaugh (Forest Whitaker) enters the Barn. Tasked with taking down Mackey, Kavanaugh tears the already fractured Strike Team apart with evidence against Lem. Kavanaugh is Mackey’s equal and the two square off constantly to raze each other. The season finale is sunless and disturbing leaving a gigantic aftermath that shatters the already tenenous Strike Team. 10/10

Season Six: After the events of the season five finale, Vic is on the warpath. With one hand he is vengance slither, on the other he is trying to keep his career as brass tries to force him into retirment. Vandrell continues to seperate himself from the rest of the Strike Team as he falls in with the Armenian Mob and struggles with internal guilt. Wyms now promoted to the captain of the Barn is deadset on saving it from itself and all those that stand in its contrivance. 7/10

Season Seven: The final season. Vic calm plot on vengance finally has a proper target, while Vandrell goes entirely rogue on the lamb. Wyms and Dutch urge against time to finally steal down Mackey, while Gardocki and himself go darker than ever – hunting one of their contain. Season Seven pits Vic against everyone he loves and tests his survival instinct to its core. In the raze, it is a chilling season that should have earned Emmy nods for Michael Chiklis and Walter Goggins. 10/10

The series has its highs and lows, but on a whole remains a much portion and one of the best cop shows ever. This a series I’ve watched over and over again in marathon sessions. I owned all but the final season on DVD and have since given them away when word of the complete series finally came around.

This is a must have DVD collection and my celebrated TV expose of all time.

After publicizing this release as a 2 disc position, disney finally changed its mind and released it as a barebones single disc. Those who were waiting to acquire all those substantial tedious the scenes stuff available previously on “tarzan 2 disc collector’s edition” will be thoroughly disappointed with this release.

However, those who missed out on previous 2 disc collector’s edition and want to fill tarzan on a two disc station, detached have the option of buying it from amazon.co.uk, where it has been released as a 2-disc special edition with all those unhurried the scenes stuff from previous collector’s edition. Objective compose obvious you have a multi-region dvd player which plays discs from all regions.

Do not bewitch this unless you fair want to bear the film. Better tranquil search for the weak collector’s edition. It will be worth all the money spent.

The movie is large, I like it at home as noteworthy as I did in the theater, BUT…There appears to be a glitch with the sound. The front left and rear lawful audio channel is SWITCHED. Disney is aware of this scrape (on 1.5 million disks) and isn’t doing ANYTHING about it!

After her younger sister dies (offscreen) of a drug overdose, surgical nurse and one-woman vigilante army Pam Grier sets out to punish those she believes responsible for her sister’s addiction. Masquerading as a for-hire call girl, Coffy infiltrates the supposed hierarchy of the city’s dope and sex trade in what starts as vengeance for her sister but turns into a crusade to rid the city of all its filth, murdering all along the device, from a small-time pimp and drug dealer (who gets his head blown off shortly after the opening credits) to her congressman lover, who turns out to have a portion of the action as well and is as snide as the rest of the bunch. Despite the sober description, this is not an “necessary” film per se; actually, it’s dazzling trashy, but curious when trying to expect who this movie is made for. I guess we’re supposed to root for Coffy as she goes on her cancel spree, but, as her “edifying cop” friend (who naturally is murdered before the kill of the first reel) explains to her, the drug plight is already widespread, and who is ultimately to blame? Factor in also that our heroine is also asked to disrobe a number of times for the camera and act very promiscuously, and that instead of the “sad heroes” that this genre supposedly provided to the minority audiences, we mostly gain pimps, dealers, addicts, chauffeurs 🙂 … At the waste, we peep Coffy, having recently snuffed out her boyfriend and dejectedly thrown her precise shotgun on the floor in front of him, walking down a beach alone, almost positive to be picked up by the cops eventually (though the closing credits song proclaim Coffy as “a intelligent symbol of murky pride”) …Very cynical filmmaking and confusing stuff–the general message seems to be “everything and everyone around you is polluted–you can try to fight the system, but ultimately, you’ll lose.” How’s that for uplifting the hurry? Strangely enough, I like this movie for all of its negatives and excesses, and it is an emblem of a time when “blaxploitation” producers and filmmakers were trying to tap into something different, however misguided; reflects a lot of backlash from the supposedly idealistic 60s. Wonderful amounts of violence and gobs of gratuitous nudity in this one. A HEAVILY edited version of this was recently shown on TV with Ruby Dee and Ossie Davis, who awkwardly tried to promote this stuff as quality Sunless Heritage cinema. Add some sleaze to your life and rent this one.

All of Pam Grier movies in the 70s, “Coffy” is the most noted. She deserves it; look this movie, and you notice what so-called blaxploitation films are all about.

The fast-paced “Coffy” starts with a dynamite opening, in which Pam’s character Coffy lures her enemy into a unpleasant surprise, and she blows away abominable fool’s head with a shotgun literally. Then, her mission of eradicating drug racket goes on until a very bitter ending. There are actions, fighting, nudity, and battling girls at a party where Pam uses most unexpected weapon — salad! Frankly they ogle rather bland by today’s standard, but agreeable soundtrack by Roy Ayres is serene astonishing.

Probably the most consuming thing about “Coffy” is its magnificent 70s fashion: music, clothes, and hairstyle. even if you salvage its legend a dinky dilapidated, you never collect tired of watching dresses, glasses, hats, and everything — they are so grand! And surprising thing is that the film to sure extent reflects the political condition of those days (contemplate how a murky congressman address a speech about drug issues among Afro-Americans) .

“Coffy” is one of the movies that dwelling the style of the 70s. Those who are alive to in that period should peruse it (and the unique “Shaft”) once.

Enigmatic and deliberately hypocritical, this is not a typical documentary film.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Kill Your Idols! Click Here

Taking cues more from video art than journalism, the film is structured thematically and is more complex than a linear historical recognize. The editing cleverly compiles interviews with the originators of No Wave, newer bands, and Sonic Youth (the bridge between) into a sort of a dialogue of confession and criticism. The director doesn’t camouflage the fact that the cuts in editing pervert time, which appropriately comments on the medium of documentary film itself.

Shot in NY homes and streets rather than studios, Slay Your Idols meditates on the thought of nostalgia, time, scene, and music history. The film is original for the ability to exhibit the intentions of art through the musicians’ notion whether they sound dignified or not. It’s clever and cocky and insightful. There are connections and contradictions. There are no pre-chewed short cuts. The film won’t articulate you what to assume, but it will perform you do so.

(The hour+ of special features on the DVD are very worth mentioning and include a lengthy, mountainous featurette.)

This one is really expedient as documentaries go. I like the interviews especially Lydia Lunch impartial making fun of all the current kids in the Unusual York music scene… thats the best fraction!!!

Vizio vs. Sony vs. Samsung3
Although I am not a videophile or audiophile I’d like to comment on this product.

To be honest, I purchased at the Cost** Warehouse store because of a $50 savings over Amazon, a 90 day no-questions-asked return policy and an extra year of manufacturer warranty included in the price. Since this is a new technology in this size set and sales usually come up on TV’s around the Superbowl, it made sense to me to have the option of return if the price drops and to be protected by an additional year of warranty.

So far, I’m glad I have a 90 day return option because I just might have to take advantage of it regardless of any price movement. Unless there is something wrong with the set or we can’t figure out what we are doing, the poor quality of the sound might necessitate it’s return.

Having prior experience with a 19″ Sony and a couple of 26″ Samsung LCD sets I can report that the sound on this set is extremely poor compared to the others. So far, no matter what we do to adjust the sound it just does not perform. Using the SRS surround setting is just horrible. This set replaced an older Sony 720p LCD that had a simulated surround setting and it sounded fine. The other options you have include several pre-sets that do not allow for equalization adjustments if you choose them or the setting called ‘flat’ which does allow for setting the bass and treble. So as of this writing the best sound we can get from this set is to use the ‘flat’ setting and then turn the bass up to 100% and the treble at 60%. Using this setting the TV still sounds very ‘tinny’, like you are listening to a 2″ speaker! If you turn down the treble any more it begins to sound muddy, and if you compensate by reducing the bass you get more tinny.

Aside from the sound (which may prove to be a deal breaker), the picture looks very good, on a par with my other Samsung sets. I think the size is very nice, the old Sony was 19″ and this makes a nice difference giving you more screen area than the 20 or 22 inch alternatives. The form factor is very sleek, the remote is poor (but we use a combo cable remote anyway). We do not connect directly to cable so I can’t comment on ‘channel lag’ as has been reported but can tell you it takes an annoyingly long time to start up, making you watch a ‘vizio’ splash screen, then a blue screen, then finally your picture.

If you have a very bright room, be aware that there is the potential for a lot of glare from the reflective glass surface of this set and that may be a deal breaker for you because there is a lot of reflection from some angles. If you can train yourself to look through it you might be fine.

So in summary, we are happy with the picture and performance of the set overall, but if we can’t find a solution to the sound problem the set just may go back. I will update this review if there is any news to report.

Truly great TV5
I bought this TV because my 20″ LG that I use in my home office was going out. I figured that if I was going to buy a new TV I might as well get the latest technology. I picked this one because of Vizio’s reputation. When I hooked it up I was truly amazed at the picture quality. I own 4 HDTVs and have replace all of them at least once, so I have owned at different times 1 projection LCD, 1 Plasma, and 6 CCFL backlight LCD TVs. The picture on this TV is truly great. The standard definition channels look almost as good as the HD channels did on any other HD TV I have owned and the high definition looks so real one would think they were looking out a window. I remember how impressed I was with my first HD TV, well this TV made an equal impression on me over my prior HD TVs.

The only annoyance is the fact that the volume bar does not go away when the sound is muted. I remains until you un-mute the TV. This annoys me, but is livable considering everything else.

The biggest advantages to LED LCD over CCFL LCD are the power consumption, the expected life of the backlight, and the picture quality. This TV is advertised as only drawing 30W but my UPS tells me it only draws 26W. The weakest link to a CCFL LCD TV is the backlight. It is what goes first most of the time, but LEDs last virtually forever so I will have to see what the next weakest link will be that will cause me to have to replace this TV. I expect this TV to last for at least five years before needing replacement, but time will only tell.

Excellent TV, but beware of the early runs.4
The dirty little secret when buying consumer electronics is to not buy them when they first come out, because there are bound to be bugs and defects among the first units manufactured. The manufacture is bound to discover these problems, make the necessary correction(s), and the subsequent lots should not have the same issues. This Vizio model is no exception.

I too have had the audio problem, where the audio distorts after a set amount of time. When I went to exchange it, I made sure the replacement was from a different lot than the first, that way I am bound to get a unit that shouldn’t have the same problems as what I had before. My new unit works perfectly. For reference my first unit was made on 11/09 and my new unit was made 02/10.

Vizio has also made several firmware updates between the two sets I tried out. The first TV had version 2.06 and the second 2.13. I have no idea what improvements were made, but it could relate to the audio problem.

What I like about this TV is that since it has a glass panel, the image resembles what a HD CRT would produce. It really smooths out the picture and gives a better image quality that a matte finished LCD panel can’t deliver. A typical LCD TV can produce a sharp picture, but at the same time it looks a little hazy to me. You certainly can’t get a glossy panel for a TV of that size anywhere that I know of. If you like the look that a CRT TV or a plasma gives you will probably like this TV. I am also surprised that Vizio was able to deliver a LED TV at this price point.

I also really like the styling of this TV. It has the appearance of a high-end TV, something like what Bang & Olafson would produce. An the fancy touch panel controls are a nice touch. I would like to purchase a 27″ or 32″ of this same style of set, but unfortunately Vizio only makes this style in in 19″ & 23″.

The sound, if you get a properly working unit, is quite good. It looks to me Vizio put a smaller version of their HD sound bar into this set, because the SRS Surround technology really expands the sound coming from the TV. I didn’t find the sound to be “tinny” at all. As others had reported the sound quickly goes from silent to loud.

The remote control only has one IR emitter on it, so if you are fairly close to the TV you need to point it toward the IR receiver to work properly. If you stand back a few feet, then you should have less problems. You best bet is to use a universal remote control (like the one provided by your satellite of cable provider), because many of them have at least 2 IR emitters giving you a wider range for transmission.

This TV also features a light sensor that can automatically adjust the picture in relation to the light in the room. Be aware you can’t use this feature at the same time as the 20,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio feature. For me the dynamic contrast ratio feature works better for me.

For some reason Vizio doesn’t advertise the fact that you have the ability to pause live TV (like a DVR), if you plug in a flash drive on the back of the TV. This TV also can play a play a slide-show of pictures on a flash drive.

For those that already own this TV and are unhappy with it, I would encourage you to exchange it at the store of purchase or have Vizio replace it. No one should have to live with the defect(s) if Vizio corrected it in later runs.

**UPDATE 1: I have seen that several other retail outlets are no longer carry this product, it appears it is being replaced by a more conventional design. If you are interested in this product, be sure to get it as soon as soon as possible.

**UPDATE 2: Vizio has issued a Firmware update for this TV (version 2.17) be sure to go the the Vizio website to get it.**

“Slacker Uprising” is a very estimable and revealing documentary. It documents Michael Moore’s 2004 Tour to net the “slackers” to register and vote. He travels to college campuses giving speeches, giving away slacker necessities (tidy underwear and ramen noodles) and getting people to register.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Slacker Uprising! Click Here

Across the country, he goes to the key states, along with a number of noted guests (R.E.M., Eddie Vedder, Tom Morello, Viggo Mortensen, etc.) . As he goes along this Tour of the country he encounters strong opposition, especially in the conservative states. As businessmen try to bribe student government with money to ban Michael Moore from college campuses (Free Speech anyone?!), and some actually succeed in banning him (in California of all places), Moore goes on trying to arrive out to students.

This is probably the least biased of Moore’s documentary and shows his straggle throughout the country as he gathers supporters for the Kerry campaign. This is a very tantalizing documentary released as the 2008 Election nears, maybe merely for conclude. But, maybe also to raise some consciousness about a citizen’s good and duty to vote, which ultimately, Moore’s main message.

I was mystified at the many scathing reviews this latest offering from Michael Moore received. I hesitated to view it, because I read these reviews before viewing the free movie download online. Not to concern! The humor, honesty, and decency of his previous films are all here in spades. I wonder what inspires such vicious attacks on someone who insists on pursuing his truth–even if one disagrees with him.

Overall I found the film very provocative (stamp ramen noodles and underwear) . Highly recommended.

Customer Reviews:

Canon takes a cue from Sony!5
I just bought the SD20 and it is excellent. The design works perfectly for my needs. I wanted to be able to carry my digital camera and get excellent pictures where ever I go. I was maticulous in my selection and my research paid off in this camera. Initially I was going to go sony for their design and memory stick capability. But, I wanted the Canon quality that people spoke of in their reviews. The solution: The Canon Powershot SD20. Now I leave my Canon Rebel SLR at home, and don’t miss it much. I love the built in zoom, the point-and-shoot, the cristal clear quality and numerous shooting modes. Usually I don’t need the full 5MP and I set the camera at a convenient lower setting so no resizing is neccesary when I load the pictures onto my computer. This makes it very easy to send my friends the pics by simply selecting the file from my desktop as an attachment. I love this thing! I can’t wait for the holidays to come around so I can take tons more great pictures with this super little camera!

wonderful shirt pocket camera5
This is a perfect second camera for someone who takes lots of pictures and already has some prosumer model. It also would make an excellent camera for the casual photographer. The camera is tiny, really really small but takes great pictures. Despite size of camera, alll controls are easy to use. Complex menus are Canon-easy-to-use but you could also just point and shoot and never worry about the menus. Only fear about this camera is losing it. Thought of getting the SD300 but who needs the zoom really for the use this camera will be seeing? And lack of zoom apparently makes picture quality better as camera is optimized for the fixed focal length lens.

Nifty Little Camera!!5
I recently purchased this camera for a ski trip out to Sun Valley, Idaho. I was concerned that the camera was so tiny that my hand would shake, and the images would come out blurry. But despite the small size, I took hundreds of pictures, and they’ve come out beautifully.

I transferred them to my Apple IPOD Photo, as well as my Apple Imac computer, and have even printed them through Apple. Now don’t get me wrong….I know I sound like I’m writing a review on Apple, but once I printed the pics, I was astonished at the clarity and the amazing details from the pictures once I received them.

The big “con” of the camera is the small screen on the back. There are so many new small point and shoot cameras that now have 2-inch to even 2 1/2 inch screens on the back of the camera. And there’s no optical viewfinder on this camera, nor an optical zoom – but it’s all really unnecessary when you have a camera this small.
Those are the tradeoffs. BUT, this is a camera that you will certainly want to carry along with you everywhere! It’s not bulky, and you never even notice that you have it in your pocket. I went down the ski slopes with it, and even stuck it in my jeans pants pockets. It never bothers you with its weight, and you’ll see that you’ll always pull it out to snap some photos of friends.

Advice: Buy a backup battery!! Buy a big SD file card. I got a 1GB card, and on superfine mode, and the highest resolution, it allowed me close to 400 pictures!

Great camera, and highly recommended.

From the Manufacturer
The Canon Powershot SD20 is an aesthetically designed 5.0-megapixel camera with 6.5x digital zoom to express compactness and functional beauty. With 5.0 megapixels, you’ve got the resolution to capture and print every detail. The digital zoom lets you move you up close quickly, smoothly, and easily.

Elegance in colors
Fashion and photography converge in the brilliantly hued PowerShot SD20 Digital ELPH. Four novel new colors with refined surface finish: Garnet, Midnight Blue, Zen Gray, and Silver for the ultimate camera couture.

Sophisticated imaging technology for lifelike color and exacting detail
Exclusive Canon DIGIC Image Processor and iSAPS Technology allows for faster processing speed, excellent image quality, and crisp vibrant colors.

DIGIC Image Processor
Canon’s exclusive DIGIC Image Processor revolutionized how you shoot digital by allowing the camera to process images faster and improving the accuracy of the autofocus. DIGIC also reduces the effects on noise in your images.

iSAPS Technology
iSAPS Technology is an entirely new scene-recognition technology developed for digital cameras by Canon. Using an internal detabase of thousands of different photos, iSAPS works with the fast DIGIC Image Processor to improve focus speed and accuracy, as well as exposure and white balance.

Five new Scene Modes and the Print/Share button for greater ease of use
Tough shooting situation? No problem. The PowerShot SD20 Digital ELPH has five pre-set Scene Modes that let you handle just about anything–perfectly.

The camera sets a big aperture, zooms the lens and creatively blurs the background–automatically.

Landscape
For front to back sharpness, the camera sets a small aperture.

Night Snapshot
Now it’s easy to properly expose the night scene–at the touch of a button.

Indoor
Get natural-looking color and shake-free performance even under artificial light.

Underwater
Capture the underwater world in true-to-life color.

Print/Share button
The SD20’s Print/Share button makes direct printing easier than ever. Simply connect the SD20 to a Canon Direct Photo Printer or PictBridge-supported printer, press the Print/Share button and print! Also use the Print/Share button to transfer images directly to a computer (Windows).

Print your own ID photos in 28 different sizes or use the Movie Print function to output multiple stills from a recorded movie on a single sheet using any Canon Compact photo printer.

Razor sharp images that automatically display right side up
High-precision 9-point AiAF for sharp photos every time and Intelligent Orientation Sensor automatically rotates images for playback.

With its nine-point AiAF, the PowerShot SD20 Digital ELPH gives you super-accurate focus you can count on–even if your subject isn’t at the center of the frame. * Audio-only interview with Stanley Kubrick

In regards to the uneducated 2.35:1 zealot reviewer, as a Director of Photography, I can position unequivocally that 2001 is supposed to be in 2.20:1 aspect ratio. It was shot in 2.20:1. It was not shot in Cinemascope (or anamorphic Panavision), which is 2.35:1. It was shot with straight lenses in Desirable Panavision 70 (65mm negative, 70mm projection print with soundtrack) . Orderly Panavision 70 is a 2.20:1 aspect ratio format. When you are watching a 70mm print in a theater you are watching 2.20:1, which was never as wide as the anamorphic formats. Learn your aspect ratios.

Not to mention the fact that Kubrick went to the fabulous worry of exposing his special effects composite shots as successive passes on the new undeveloped 65mm negative (after it being held sometimes in refrigeration for up to a year or more waiting for the next pass) so that all the composite visual elements are first generation on the novel camera negative, rather than the cheaper and more celebrated optical composite dupe negative inserts. Improbable. That is why it looks as righteous as it does. No optical negative generations.

A Shapely Film…and one of the best executions of the 70mm format ever.

A just Visual Masterpiece.
